Anita's Stitching

I have begun stitching in 1978. For the last 10 years, my stitching has been with "smalls". I love to use beads and ribbons and always looking for new ways for finishing. My email addresses is anita@anitalittlestitches.com.

Box Style Pinkeep

I called this "Box style pinkeep" because the construction of it is like a box. I used cardbord to make the top, bottom and the sides. It is more time consuming than the mattress pinkeep and I kept on asking myself why am I doing this? The assembly part of it was using a "curve needle" to attach the top and bottom pieces to the box frame. The design is from Tristan Brooks and it is called Elizabethan pincushion. It has quite a few of queen stitches and it was a new stitch for me.
There is a scissor fob that goes with the design but I have not finished the finishing part yet. So for now, just the pictures for the pinkeep.

This type of finishing is pretty versatile and you can put ribbon around it and hang it as an ornament. I have done a Just Nan ornament using the same technique.

Thank you so much for taking time to leave me comments.

Anita, you are totally incredible! These are really lovely additions to your collection of smalls. I'm looking forward to when I have some time to sit down and try this technique -- I may need your help (grin)..as I have not seen these done as pincushions before. I have seen stand ups like this, with the cardboard finishing on the sides. the stand ups are made with coreboard and batting on the top and bottom, then adding the stitched front and generally fabric finishing on the back, but I have never tried this as a pincushion. So I will need to ask some questions. You do great work! Keep it up, I love seeing all the things you've finished lately.

It looks lovely, they both do, what a fun way to finish it off. I like the idea of finishing it that way for a Christmas decoration, I'll have to remember that.
