I have more one over one stitching to share today. One of my upcoming stitchings is a set of Blackbird designs smalls which consists of a scissor fob, pinkeep and a piece for a retangular wood box. All of them will be stitched one over one with Autumn theme.
I have some tips to share about stitching one over one. First I prefer the stitching done with evenweave fabric than linen, 25 and 28 counts are great to start. I also use petite needles 26, and 28 preferrably John James. I like to stitch in the daytime next to a window to maximize the natural light. I generally complete each "X" as I go, but I also use the method of //// and come back to
\\\\\ to complete my "X" too depending on the designs.
Here are my just finished pieces, they are from AMAP ( a French designer). I added Mill hill gold beads on both pieces but they did not show up too well on the pictures. They are mixed with DMC threads, 814, 815, 816 and 817.
The First pinkeep: I used Ric Rac ribbon and I made 4 ribbon rose pins for the 4 sides:
I wish the gold beads showed up better on these pictures, they are around the border and on the 4 corners of the first diamond shape next to the stitching lady.
Yesterday was my birthday. I will have some stitching gifts pictures to share at the end of September. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I do spend a lot of time reading blogs to get inspired and enabled. It is such a great way of learning and meeting new stitching friends.
Have a wonderful week.

Happy Birthday, Anita!!
Your newly finished pieces are exquisite! Thanks for sharing. :D
Happy Belated Birthday. Love your finishes. I have been looking at things on AMAP website. I like those designs. Might have to get some.
HI Anita,
Just wanted to say that your pin keeps are lovely and I love one over one stitching. I agree that 25/28 ct fabric evenweave is much easier to work with than other linens that have differences in the thickness of the fibers on the fabric. You get a much more even look to each stitch with evenweave. I also love the rose pins you made and need to get some instructions from you on how to do that. I bought some rickrack recently so I could give it a try :-). See what you've done?! Talk about enabling someone :-) -- but it is a good kind of enabling.
Now what Blackbird pattern are you using for the smalls? I am not sure what chart you are working from. And also, wishing you a wonderful year...and happy birthday. You are such a great friend! Thank you for sharing all your wonderful finishes, they are inspiring and make me want to go stitch :-)...

I love the pinkeeps...I've stitched the Le Brouderuse Stitching Lady myself and for and exchange. Both are lovely. Which Pattern is the bottom pinkeep from? I'm not familiar with that one...
You did a super job Anita as always!
I have to agree about the evenweave for over one stitching. I find that the linen has different thickness threads and gives an over 1 project a distorted look. But evenweave is perfect! I've never had good luck with John James needles for some reason?...I always think the eyes aren't clean and snag my thread. My favorite needle is Piecemakers 28. I LOVE them!
Lovely pinkeeps. Hope you had a wonderful birthday.
